How do I make international calls with Mint?

International calling is when you make a call from one country to another. Sounds simple, but you won’t get very far dialing like a regular call. Before you reach for the phone, here’s what you need to know about making international calls with Mint Mobile. 

1) Purchase International Calling Credit

Unless you’re calling Mexico, Canada or the U.K. (included free on all plans), you’ll need to purchase international calling credit by adding money to your Mint Mobile wallet. This ensures you’re in control and won’t be surprised by unexpected charges. Then, we’ll use the money in your Mint Mobile wallet toward our international calling rates to over 160 countries. 

How do I purchase international calling credit for my Mint Mobile wallet?

Adding money via the app:

1. Open the app and log in 
2. Click Menu 
3. Scroll down to Payment 
4. Select Add Money to Wallet 
5. Add $5, $10 or $20 to your Mint Mobile wallet – here you can also view if you already have money in your account next to Wallet Balance

Adding money via the website:  

1. Log in to your account at MintMobile.com
2. Click Menu on the left side of the screen
3. Click Load Wallet
4. Add $5, $10 or $20 to your Mint Mobile wallet – here you can also view if you already have money in your account next to Wallet Balance

2) Make an International Call

Now that your Mint Mobile wallet is loaded, follow these steps to make an international call.

1. Dial exit code 011 or +
2. Dial the specific country code for your destination
3. Dial the recipients’ phone number 
   • 011 + [Country Code] + [Area Code if needed] + [Phone Number]

3) Send an International Text

Texting internationally is just as simple. Two things to keep in mind: For numbers in North America (NANP), just enter the recipient’s standard 10-digit phone number. To text numbers outside of North America, follow the steps below: 

1. Type exit code 011 or +
2. Type the specific country code for your destination
3. Type the recipients’ phone number 

What if I’m having trouble calling internationally?

Here are the two most common issues and how to fix them:

• Not having enough credit in your Mint Wallet. Here are a few ways to check your balance:
  1. Login to your account via the Mint Mobile app or website 
  2. Text BALANCE to 6700
  3. Call Customer Care: Diall 611 from your Mint phone to ask a representative about your balance 
• Incorrect dialing format. Double check that you’re including
  1. 011 or + symbol before the number
  2. The correct country code
  3. The area code (if applicable)

What are the rates for calling internationally?

• Rates may vary, look up our international rates here. 
• International calls are billed per minute
• For example, since rates may vary per country, a 10 minute mobile call to Country A may cost around $0.20 while a 10-minute mobile call to Country B may cost around $2.10, 

How do I check my international calling charges?

1. Open the Mint Mobile app and log in
2. Click Menu
3. Scroll down to INTL call history
4. Here you can view all your charges. If you’ve made international calls without adding funds recently, you likely already have a balance.
